For a skiing holiday in the sun, the ski resort of l'Alpe d'Huez is perfect! With 300 days of sunshine per year, the ski station is nicknamed "The island in the sun". It is situated on a south-facing plateau in the Grandes Rousses mountains, at the heart of Oisans, at an altitude of 1860m. Don't miss the summit of the Pic Blanc, from which the most fearless skiers can descend the black slope La Sarenne, the longest in Europe (16km), while the rest of us admire the fantastic views of the Ecrins National Park, the Aiguilles d'Arves, the Chaine de Belledonne and even the legendary Mont Blanc...
The wide variety of shops and services allows skiers and non-skiers to enjoy the resort: the streets are pleasant to stroll along, with a number of restaurants, shops and bars. A number of cultural and sports events also take place at l'Alpe de Huez throughout the season.
NEW: La Folie Douce! At the arrival station of the Marmottes 1 chair-lift, La Folie Douce is situated at 2300m. This high altitude restaurant becomes an open-air nightclub after lunch, which means you can go clubbing in between 2 descents!
Skiers will enjoy this large skiing area of 250km of slopes, which the VTR Voyages team particularly appreciates for its diversity: a high mountain atmosphere at the highest points, slopes which snake through the forests, wide slopes and beginner areas for novices.
